UTSG2026 Conference – Call for Abstracts

Dear all,

We are pleased to announce the Call for Abstracts for the 58th UTSG Annual Conference, which will be hosted at the University of Surrey from 13–15 July 2026.

SUBMISSION OF ABSTRACTS IS NOW OPEN

Details are available at: https://utsg.net/annual-conference_2026

The UTSG Annual Conference is now in its sixth decade, with events held annually across the UK and Ireland and an international scope. We welcome contributions from academics, practitioners, and students worldwide. PhD researchers are especially encouraged to submit, and dedicated training and mentoring sessions will support early-career transport researchers. These sessions are open to all participants.

Selected papers will be considered for publication in Special Issues of high esteemed journals including:

  • Journal of Transport & Health (Elsevier)
  • Transportation Planning and Technology (Taylor & Francis)
  • IET Intelligent Transport Systems

Authors are invited to submit their research papers to the Conference. Topics include but are not limited to:

  • Travel and Tourism
  • Transportation Policy and Economics
  • Transportation and Environment
  • Transportation and Health
  • Energy in Transportation
  • Climate Change and Resilience in Transportation
  • Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS)
  • Autonomous Vehicles & Future Mobility
  • Logistics & Freight Transportation
  • Public Transportation Systems

  • Social Equity and Transportation
  • Emerging Trends in Air and Water Transport
  • Infrastructure Design and Maintenance
  • Gender, Diversity, and Inclusion in Transport
  • Traffic Psychology and Behaviour

  • Others

The Local Organising Committee is working to make UTSG 2026 a rewarding and engaging event. With Surrey’s strong legacy in tourism research, Travel & Tourism will feature among this year’s conference themes. Guildford is less than 40 minutes from London and offers a historic town centre and the Surrey Hills, providing an attractive setting for conference activities.

ABSTRACT SUBMISSION GUIDELINES

Authors must submit a 300-word abstract and six keywords clearly identifying the Objectives, Background, Methods, Main Findings, and Conclusions. Abstracts will be reviewed, and authors will be notified of decisions by the end of March 2026.

Abstracts from across the full breadth of transport research are welcome, and we especially encourage contributions that speak—directly or indirectly—to UTSG’s evolving priorities around international perspectives on transport, interdisciplinary working within transport, enhancing impact of transport research and supporting a diverse community through transport equity and justice.

Smeed Prize entries should be indicated in the ‘Topic’ field of the submission form.
